Conference sessions on Friday, May 26, will be held in the Martin Johnson House of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) in La Jolla. Sessions on Saturday, May 27, and Sundary, May 28, will be held in the Natural Sciences Building Auditorium, Room 1205, on the UCSD Campus.

Speakers are being housed at the Sea Lodge La Jolla , less than a mile south of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. The room rate is $195/night.
A few people have asked about less expensive alternatives to the Sea Lodge while attending the models conference. You can find the closest ones by putting "9300 Discovery Way, La Jolla 92037" into mapquest and requesting that it show nearby items in the category Hotels.
To get really inexpensive, you would have to stay further away or use priceline etc. However, the following currently have availability for 3 nights with Thurs, May 25 checkin:
1. Estancia La Jolla 877-437-8262: new upscale hotel right across Torrey Pines Road from UCSD. They have UCSD prices of $169 deluxe (NOT AVAILABLE), $199 veranda (available) and $219 estate (available). There is no shuttle, but it is .88 miles N of Scripps (Sea Lodge is 1.16 miles S of Scripps).
2. Hotel La Jolla at the Shores has rooms for $169/$172 and $189. This hotel has a courtesy van that would take you to Scripps, usually available within 10 minutes if not immediately (they say). It is 1.24 mi from Scripps and perhaps 1/2 mile to a mile to Sea Lodge. It is not as close to the beach as Estancia or Sea Lodge.
3. Marriott San Diego Residence Inn (858-587-1770) has studio king rooms for $179 (king bed, living room w/sofa bed, kitchen, free breakfast & internet. No shuttle. .63 miles N of Scripps (south of the main UCSD campus).
You might also try Hyatt (1.45 miles) or the Holiday Court: Radisson (.97 miles, 453-5500), just south of the main UCSD campus. One conference guest is staying at the Hyatt and got a good price via priceline.com
